TfTD – The First Life Step

“Do not marvel that I said to you, “You must be born again.” (John 3:7)

I imagine what would happen if Jesus suddenly appeared in our world. There’d probably be a flood of reporters asking questions, searching for answers to the secrets of life. He would stand in front of 6 microphones and He’d tell us the same thing that He told Nicodemus. It is what we need to know most. “You must be born again.”

It is one of God’s essentials for us. It is a must. If we are to live in sync with God, it is a must.

We are forever in Church talking about getting our breakthrough because we want to get out from under whatever burden we are enduring. It’s also a way that preachers press, “praise buttons”, if you know what I mean. For me, when I came into a saving relationship with God, that was my breakthrough.

Paul broke through when he covered this first life essential and it fueled 3 missionary journeys where he effectively established churches from Italy to Arabia. Peter also broke through when he received Christ. It changed him from a crude-talking fisherman to become the hope-filled leader of the Christian Church in Rome.

Jesus would probably tell us the same thing that He told Nicodemus. If Nicodemus was to gain citizenship into the Kingdom of God, it begins with being born again. It’s a must. It is the real breakthrough.
