TfTD – Yesterday’s Message on Signs and Wines

And this is about signs and wines on the surface, but it has a much deeper purpose.  John had a greater and grander reason for reporting this event.  That purpose, which is alluded in vs. 11, is to to get people to believe in God.   And I am particularly focused on that word “in”, because “in” ups the ante.  There is a difference between believing God and believing in God.  To believe in God is to relocate one’s self in God.  Remember when Christ was on the cross, He said, “Father in-to Thy Hands, I commend my Spirit.”

Yesterday, I thought about how great it is to know that God has our backs when we run out of some of life’s essentials.  It is good to have people in our corner.  There are people in our corner who would, if they could, but they can’t — help us, that is.  However, it is great when we have someone in our corner who is able.  If He can turn water into wine, He is able.  If He can turn a prostitute into an evangelist, He is able.

God bless.

Thanks for your insight. I would add that the translators gave the treatment of the earliest text to a status that they elevated higher than Mount Everest. The rigors that they went through before they sat down to translate, piled on the rigorous discipline they used to transmit the text correctly is virtually unheard of any other publications, be them religious or otherwise. Therefore, it behooves the one who preaches, teaches and writes for God, to be as diligent as he can be to avoid the frivolity that often accompanies the administration of the Gospel. The carefully and loving disposition of God’s Word can only help us.
