Matthew 1:18-23
Have you ever been involved in something that you knew was right but it was still difficult? Maybe it made you uncomfortable and unpopular but you stuck with it because you were not the quarterback. You weren’t calling the plays. You kept at because you knew in your heart that it was a move of God. This was exactly the plight and the flight of Mary and Joseph and I believe that the thing that drove Joseph and, a pregnant Mary, moving through this difficult journey, to Bethlehem amid the feelings of rejection and humiliation that we often feel, was a deep sense that God was calling the shots.
WOW! I saw myself in Joseph because it reminded me of the times when I was about to go off grid because the things that were happening just didn’t make sense. Actually they still don’t make sense but, back to Joseph. He was about to go off grid until he discovered that it was a move of God. The angel told Joseph, “This is not a time to go off grid. Don’t put Mary away. I am calling the shots. It is uncomfortable and it might be embarrassing, but this is not your groove. It’s mine. Stay on course.”
A look at the Scripture plots the groove for us.
1. In Vs. 18 Mary is a virgin and still pregnant. God can do that when it’s His groove.
2. In Vs. 19 Joseph is about to send her away until he discovers it is God’s groove.
3. In Vs. 21-23 God explains His groove. Sometimes understanding helps.
4. In Vs. 24 Joseph wakes up and gets in the God’s groove. Hmmm. There’s a sermon right there.
Anyway, there is something satisfying about moving in God’s groove that is one of the things that keeps us moving forward. God has given all of us something to do if we will repent and receive Him into our lives as Savior. Let Him call the shots. It’s a great journey. Remember that the journey resulted in life, as in, a new birth and a new life. Stay with it and Merry Christmas!

Great day, Everyone. Like Orville and Wright, this is about being involved in something that only you believe in and nobody else. It’s difficult but you stick with it. Hang in there.
