TfTD – A Good Man At Christmas

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” (Prov. 37:23)

Have you ever wondered what makes a good man?  It is his heart.  When he receives Christ, he gets a new heart, a heart for God, and his steps become ordered by the LORD.  One lesson that the Christmas story makes apparent is that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.  Joseph was a good man.  God ordered his steps. This means that God told him what to do and he did it.

He wanted to put Mary away privately when he discovered that she was pregnant.  He knew that they had not been together, intimately.  In Matthew 1:20 God tells him not to put her away.  In Matthew 1:24 Joseph obeys.  Good man!

But let me clarify that Joseph is not a good man because I said he was.  He is a good man because he allowed God to order his steps.  I would that this become an aspiration for each of us this Christmas.
