If you are going to serve God in any leadership role you cannot be afraid to be alone, and I mean, really alone.

In Exodus 3:1 Moses was alone on the far side of the wilderness when he encountered God trying to get his attention.

In Revelations 1:9, John was alone on the Isle of Patmos when he received the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

In 1 Samuel 16:11-12 David was alone with his sheep when he was summoned to be annointed as king.

Inasmuch as we need to be people persons, we also need to be away from the day-to-day distractions of text messages, radios, TVs and people. God is simply not going to be in competition with them. If we prefer to hear them, then by all means, hear them. But if we want to hear Him then hear Him, but we cannot be afraid to be alone.
