I had another thought from last Sunday’s message because it dug deeply into the nature of things. It reminds me of a recent snuba diving expedition in the Gulf of Mexico. I did not merely swim on top of the water but I dove deep. Well, Romans 12:2 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+12%3A2&version=NASBis not superfical. It deals deeply with the nature of a servant of God. It does not talk about whether we cuss or drink, or smoke — at least it does not do it in this passage of Scripture because these things are superficial manifestations of what is deep inside and if you change the nature then the behavior starts to change. So Paul reaches deep inside the nature of things and says, be not conformed to this world, but be transformed. There it is, i.e., the nature of things. Be transformed.
Have you ever struggled against something? Maybe it was an addiction or a behavior that you struggled against, and it just seems to hang on incessantly no matter how much you pray about it and then one day you just put it down? Viola! Praise God! You overcame. Sometimes it happens instantly and other times it happens slowly but it happens and it happens because the nature changes. It is called, “Transformation”. Change the nature and the behavior changes and it all starts with Almighty God. Romans 10:9&10 says:
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
