The world is full of dime-store philosophers.
I am going to try to go deep on this one.
This morning while in the park a man disturbed my meditational moments saying, “Good morning.” I ususally don’t allow people to disturb my mediation with God but this time, I allowed it. While being somewhat facetious I responded, “Is it a good morning? Tell me because I don’t know if it is or not.”. He tried to be deeply philosophical in his response by responding, “It depends on how you receive your blessing.” I said, “Ok”, and went about my business drying off from a 3-mile run. Five minutes later, having dried off, I began my cool-down walk. The man was standing talking with a group of people and as I walked past them he said, “Have a blessed day.”. At that point I decided to lay some deep truth on him so I responded saying the following: “Whether I have a blessed day or not is God’s part. My part is to receive it. He is the one who provides blessed days, but whether I receive it or not, does not mean that I do not have it.” He said, “Ok.” I have observed that many people have blessings that they do not experience but it does not mean that they do not have them. A man can have a good wife like the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 what a blessing that is for him to have her, but he may never stop to appreciate the blessing that she is. A child may fail to appreciate a good parent. A church may have a wonderful pastor who selflessly cares for the members and who also preaches the Word of God but may fail to appreciate their pastor. A person may have a good friend but fail to appreciate them but it does not mean that they do not have those blessings. We may have a blessed day but fail to appreciate it but it does not mean that we do not have it.
Having a blessed day is God’s part. Experiencing it is our part.
PS: Sometimes, blessed days do not feel blessed but they are blessed, nontheless. I believe we call them, “blessings in disguise.”. One of the saddest and most difficult days in all of creation was one of the most blessed days mankind has ever had. It was on a hill called, “Calvary”. Isaiah said, “Surely He has born our griefs and carried our sorrows and we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God.” Then Isaiah said, “By His stripes, we are healed.”. I that this did not feel good, and it was so horrible that it makes many of us cry, but what a blessing. WOW! PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE THE LORD! PRAISE THE LORD! What a blessing it was for us because He was carrying out His plan of salvation.
May God bless you.
