You have heard it. People have told you to be patient. It is a fruit of the Spirit according to Galatians 5:22 where the word for patience is, “long-suffering.” WOW! The King James translators got that right because sometimes we suffer and we suffer very long.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
I just figured out why the Holy Spirit is so necessary in our lives. Let’s get real. I have had people sit back in their offices and the studies and tell me to be patient because it gives them time to continue exploiting my services.
Not for one moment did I ever think that, “patience”, could work against us. I mean, Dr. Martin Luther King did right a book called, “Why We Can’t Wait.”
I have been working on extending my ability to be patient for years but recent events have exhausted that ability and I am ready to let everybody have it who taxes my patience unnecessarily. Last night just before going to sleep I began to worry about an issue that I have been dealing with for too long. I even went to sleep and dreamt about it. To deal with this ongoing issue I submitted an application and the recipient promised to get back to me within 5-7 business days. Five-seven business days turned into a month and I let it happen because I have learned to have patience. I got up this morning to deal with it and they had approved my application a month ago. They could have shut it down for inactivity. My patience could have worked against me.
Then I began to wonder, “Was that the Holy Spirit worrying me and prompting me to get on the stick and call these people?”
We ought to have patience, but it is easy for me to see that there are times when too much patience can work against us. Perhaps there are times when the Holy Spirit prompts us telling us that enough is enough and it is time to deal with it. That’s why it is so important to be connected to God because, when He speaks, we can hear Him.
I wonder if anyone else has been dealing with something to which they have applied a lot of patience but they are now beginning to believe that enough is enough and it is time to start pushing the issue. It just may be that sometimes the Holy Spirit will not allow us to sleep until we are moved to deal with some of those nagging issues in our lives and He wants to keep our quest to have patience from working against us. It is very important to be connected to God. Thank you Lord.
Anyway, other than the fact that I love God and I love you, that is my TfTD. God bless. (I really do appreciate you all in my life.)
