Power Tools – Part II

God’s people themselves, are power tools.  His power is in them and that makes them power tools.  Granted that all too often, like a power tool that is not in use, the power in God’s people may be turned off but they are power tools, nonetheless. They are just not exercising their God-given abilities. The simplest illustration that I have is in Exodus 17:9-12 when Israel fought against Amalek.  The Bible says that, during the battle, when Moses held up his hands Israel prevailed, and when he let down his hands that they did not prevail.  Moses’ hands got tired so Aaron and Hur stood on each side of him and helped him hold his hands up.  In that way, Aaron and Hur, two of God’s people, became Moses’ power tools to execute God’s will.

When I was 19 or 20, just getting started as a serious Christian, there were two older women in my Church who were a great source of encouragement to me.  At that age, most times it equals struggles.  I tend to keep my troubles to myself but they knew that a 19 or 20 year-old is struggling so they would automatically go into encourage mode.  These little old ladies became power tools for me.  They were the Aaron’s and Hur’s in my life.  Do you have any of those in your life?  They are good to have.

Ephesians 4:11 gives specific kinds of powerful people that God gave to the Church and I went over them in depth in my sermon. You can review them if you like. You may be one of them.
