The first time I heard the word, “doctrine”, I was in Church. I discovered that doctrine is teaching and the purpose of teaching is to inform. Bare with me because, “inform” is where I am going with this thought. The purpose of doctrine is to inform, i.e., to bring us in form and the purpose of information is to bring us in(to) form in order to make things better. Stated another way, its purpose is to enlighten us, lift us and straighten things out bringing us into proper form.
It contains the keys to life.
16 All Scripture is [a]inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for [b]training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
