A Prodigal Thought

Here’s a thought right out of yesterday’s sermon at life Step Baptist Ministries (LSBM).

“Now may our God and Father Himself and Jesus our Lord direct our way to you;”  (I Thess. 3:11)

Paul asked God to direct their way.  Did you notice in the story of the Prodigal Son that when he directed his own way it did not work but when God directed his way it turned out so good that they had a party?

I am sure that the father in the story had a way that was different from God’s also. Like any good father he probably wanted to run after his child and bring him back home but he didn’t. It was not God’s way. God’s way was to let him go. Let him go learn. Instead of running after him he stood at the window and waited for his son to come home because if he let him go he would come back smarter. He would come back with lessons that you cannot get in textbooks. It brings up another interesting thing and that is that if anybody knows how to get us home it is God. If there are any breaches in your life, any fractured relationships, if family friends or loved ones have ventured into alien places God knows how to get them home.
