Turn right and keep going. Sounds trite but it’s true. The way to get to heaven is turn right and keep going. You have to make the right move and keep going. You can’t stop. So many of my homey’s made the move when I made it. They started going to church, singing in the choir, listening to good messages from the preacher but the next thing I knew, they were gone. We weren’t in the same church so I couldn’t keep a tab on them the way I wanted and they stopped. They didn’t keep going. You have to keep going.
I know church is not the ticket to heaven but it is a support group and we need that support in order to keep going. Yes, your ticket and your place in the kingdom is secure if you have accepted Christ, but it’s the lifestyle that I am talking about. Turning right is the easy part but keeping going after the honeymoon is over is the hard part. You have to keep going.
In order to keep going you have to walk with the right people — people who are going the same way you are going in. There are a lot of people wearing the Christian label but that does not mean that they are not going the same way that you are going. You have to pick the people who are trying to go the same way you are going and take it one day at a time, one step at a time. Read your Bible one day at a time even if it’s just a verse, read it. Read a short Christian blog one day at a time. Pray one day at a time. I went to college and I graduated and it took me ten years to do it and I did it one day at a time. Okay? You can do it.
I know that it is Christmas time so lets bring Mary and Joseph in this thing. They were on there way to Bethlehem. The only way they could get there was to choose the right path. They had to turn right and keep going. Choosing the right path for Bethlehem was the easy part but they had to keep going. That was the hard part because it was a rough road and she was pregnant but they got there. Notice I said, “they”. They made it because of the word “they.” WOW! A light just went on in my head because I suddenly realized that this was the key to how my wife and I made it when we were raising our children. It is because of the word, “they”. We did it together. We were going in the same direction and we made it.
So the way to get to heaven is to turn right and just keep going. Don’t stop. You can make it.
